Flappy Bird: Is It The Most Frustrating Game App Ever?
Millions of downloads keep people flapping their wings

People bend over their tiny telephone screens, thumbs rapidly tapping as they try to beat the game.
The brand new game app that everybody is playing is called “Flappy Bird,” and it’s all about getting through a bunch of pipes without your bird touching it. It’s that simple.
Background: The game came out in May 2013 but became a big hit in December, when it suddenly rose up the charts. It was written by a Vietnamese programmer named Dong Nguyen. Last week, it was being downloaded 2 to 3 million times per day on both Android and Apple iOS phones.
The animation is sort of like the old traditional “Mario Brothers” game on Super Nintendo, and it is simple. But it has been downloaded more than 10 million times already, and everyone who plays it talks about how frustrating it is.
Senior Austin Sandoval said, “It ticks me off!” But he also said he can’t get enough of it.
“It’s very frustrating,” said sophomore Alicia Flores. “You try to beat your high score but you just barely touch the pipes and you die. It’s just frustrating when you can’t make it through.”
Abram Gallegos said he just downloaded the game last week and has played it some.
“It’s all right,” he said. “It’s going to be like Angry Birds, where everybody plays it for a while and then it dies down.”
